Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has worked as a journalist for more than 45 years focusing on the suffering of people in the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry was a reporter for wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in Agana) was an American television reporter, anchor and journalist. Curry was best known for being a correspondent of The Today Show, a morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry is well-known for her reporting of emergencies and disasters that affect the human condition, especially in countries which have suffered the effects of conflict. Curry's Japanese-American mother and U.S. navy-marine father were both prominent figures within Curry's personal life. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents came together while her father was serving in Japan. Her father served in the military, so her family had to move around often. Curry graduated from high school within Ashland Oregon. In the end, University of Oregon awarded her the degree of bachelor of arts in journalism. Her exposure to diverse cultures and situations in her early years probably contributed to her empathy that she has for issues of international significance. They moved frequently, so Curry did not remain in the same school for over two years traveling to various locations like San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. In the end, she was able to graduate from Ashland High School. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in broadcasting. She became the first female anchor at the station, when she was just 22. Then, she was anchor and reporter at KGW located in Portland Oregon. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV within four years of moving to the city. She received 2 Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
